The hallowed halls of Hogwarts are about to get a lot more crowded, as HBO's upcoming Harry Potter series announces its first wave of student casting. Fans can now look forward to seeing some familiar names from each house brought to life.
Bravely Joining Gryffindor
The Gryffindor Quidditch team is shaping up with Orson Matthews cast as the spirited captain, Oliver Wood. He'll be joined on the pitch by fellow team members Asha Soetan as Angelina Johnson, Eire Farrell as Katie Bell, and Serrana Su-Ling Bliss as Alicia Spinnet. Adding his comedic flair to the commentary box will be Ethan Smith as Lee Jordan, the best friend of the Weasley twins.
Loyally Joining Hufflepuff
The Hufflepuff common room welcomes several new faces. India Moon takes on the role of Hannah Abbott, while James Trevelyan Buckle is set to play Justin Finch-Fletchley. Also joining the loyal house are Cian Eagle-Service as Ernie MacMillan and Jazmyn Lewin as Susan Bones.
Wisely Joining Ravenclaw
Ravenclaw's ranks are also growing with Anjula Murali cast as Padma Patil, the twin sister to Gryffindor’s Parvati Patil. Aaron Zhao joins as Terry Boot, a member of Harry's year group. Scarlett Archer will portray Penelope Clearwater, and Eve Walls steps into the role of Lisa Turpin.
Ambitiously Joining Slytherin
Slytherin will see a strong Quidditch presence. Oliver Croft is cast as the formidable team captain, Marcus Flint. The Chasers include D’Angelou Osei-Kissiedu as Graham Montague and Dylan Heath as Adrian Pucey. Cornelius Brandreth will play Seeker Terence Higgs, while Eddison Burch is Keeper Miles Bletchley. The team's Beaters are James Dowell as Lucian Bole and Henry Medhurst as Peregrine Derrick. Finally, Laila Barwick is cast as Pansy Parkinson, a friend of Draco Malfoy.
This exciting casting news comes as production continues for the series, which is set to debut in 2027 on HBO. It will be available to stream on HBO Max in territories where it's launched, including Germany and Italy, and will also be available in the UK and Ireland following the platform's confirmed late March launch. The show is helmed by showrunner Francesca Gardiner, with Mark Mylod directing multiple episodes and also serving as an executive producer. Executive producers also include J.K. Rowling, Neil Blair, Ruth Kenley-Letts, and David Heyman.
