The highly anticipated HBO Original Harry Potter series, which is set to debut in early 2027, has just received a magical musical update. It has been officially announced that acclaimed composer Hans Zimmer and his team at Bleeding Fingers Music will be crafting the score for the show. This collaboration promises to bring a rich and immersive soundscape to the beloved wizarding world.

The news was shared today, confirming that the series will launch on HBO and be available for streaming on HBO Max. This includes markets like Germany, Italy, and soon the UK and Ireland, where HBO Max is confirmed to launch in late March.

Hans Zimmer, along with Kara Talve and Anže Rozman, expressed their excitement about the project. They stated: "The musical legacy of Harry Potter is a touch point for composers everywhere and we are humbled to join such a remarkable team on a project of this magnitude. The responsibility is something that myself, Kara Talve and Anže Rozman do not take lightly. Magic is all around us, often just beyond reach, but as in the world of Harry Potter, you simply must look for it. With this score we hope to bring audiences that little bit closer to it whilst honoring what has come before."

Zimmer brings an impressive resume to the project, having scored over 500 projects with a cumulative box office gross exceeding $28 billion. His many accolades include two Academy Awards, three Golden Globes, and four Grammys. Fans will recognize his work from major films such as Dune Parts One and Two, Top Gun: Maverick, No Time to Die, Interstellar, The Dark Knight trilogy, and Inception. He recently composed for F1: The Movie, which is now the highest-grossing sports film of all time. Zimmer is also known for his successful live tours, with the European leg of his 'Hans Zimmer Live' tour wrapping up in spring 2026.

Bleeding Fingers Music, co-founded by Zimmer, Russell Emanuel, and Steven Kofsky, is an Emmy Award-winning and Grammy- and BAFTA-nominated collective. They are renowned for their film, television, and multimedia scores, operating out of 25 state-of-the-art studios. Their philosophy emphasizes collaboration as a driving force for innovation, encouraging artists to be experimental and creatively generous.

The series itself is being helmed by showrunner Francesca Gardiner, who also serves as an executive producer. Mark Mylod is set to executive produce and direct multiple episodes. Other executive producers include J.K. Rowling, Neil Blair, Ruth Kenley-Letts of Brontë Film and TV, and David Heyman of Heyday Films. This team is committed to a faithful adaptation, exploring storylines in greater depth than previously seen on screen.
